Alexander Boether was born in Los Angeles in 1970. Raised in Germany, he studied business administration parallel to his work as a trainee at the investment firm Prudential Bache in Hamburg, where he gained experience in e.g. the areas of currency transaction and commodity trading. Upon graduation, he was employed by Prudential and held posts in London and New York. In 1995, he worked at the New York branch of the international realty firm CB Commercial, where he was able to merge his experiences from the investment business with the realty market.  

From 1996 to 2010, Boether was with Engel & Völkers, currently Germany’s largest real estate consultancy firm. Here he was jointly responsible for the development and expansion of the commercial division, and as a member of the management board, he also oversaw the retail services division. In addition, as a managing partner of Engel & Völkers Retail Partners GmbH, he took over the nationwide, corporate responsibility for this division from 2006 on.

In his spare time, he completed a study programme in commercial property shopping centre management in 1999, followed one year later by a course in real estate economics at a private academy for realty, the ebs Immobilienakademie, in Oestrich-Winkel and Berlin.

For over ten years now, Boether has been committed to the field of high street and neighbourhood development, working in a wide variety of committees on location development for the retail trade. Among other things, he is on the trade committees of the IHK Berlin and DIHK, the urban development committee of the city of Berlin, and he serves as a jury member of the centre initiative “Mittendrin Berlin” (literally “right in the middle of Berlin”), which he presently supports together with BOETHER RealtyPartner. As a voluntary commercial judge, Boether is also involved with Berlin’s Regional Court.

Boether has regularly shared his expertise and experience in realty markets and locations with others as e.g. a visiting lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam and the ebs Immobilienakademie.
